Who hasn’t dreamt of becoming a veterinarian? There’s a whimsical innocence to childhood imagination – when a broken leg was simply a hole in a stuffed animal needing a few stitches. Looking back, that fascination was rooted more in a pure love of  animals than in the complex reality of science and medicine.

But moving from dream to vocation is another story entirely.  Veterinary medicine is a calling that demands resilience, intellectual rigour, and a commitment  to improving the lives of sentient creatures, great and small.

Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) is hosting its 16th Annual Discover Vet School , an immersive event organized in collaboration with student groups, such as Global Vets and the International Veterinary Medicine Club.

 

Veterinary Student in a lab at OVC Designed to offer a behind-the-scenes look at veterinary education, the program features lectures, interactive labs and campus tours, and candid insights life as a veterinary student. The next sessions take place on February 28 and March 7, 2026.

Established in 1862, OVC is the oldest veterinary school in Canada and one of only five institutions in the country offering a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. Its longstanding reputation and hands-on clinical training make it one of the most respected veterinary programs in North America.
