Grab your tissues. Here’s one film you do not want to miss. Megan Leavey – helmed by Blackfish director Gabriela Cowperthwaite and starring Kate Mara – is the story of a young Marine corporal whose deep bond was shared by her military bomb-sniffing German shepherd, Sergeant Rex (2001-2012).
It’s based on the true story of Leavey and her fight to adopt Rex after she was wounded in her second deployment in Ramadi in 2006.
Both the filmmaker and actress are noted animal rights advocates, and dog safety was paramount in the making of this film. Paws up!
This film earned a “ Got Your 6 “ certification, which recognizes film and television projects that portray veterans reasonable and accurately.
