In celebration of dogs in art, the American Kennel Club® (AKC) and Bonhams are hosting their annual charity brunch , Barkfest at Bonhams, on Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 10AM to noon, benefiting the AKC Humane Fund. Dog lovers, art aficionados and their canine companions are invited to attend this exclusive preview of highly prized dog art and collectables at Bonhams (580 Madison Avenue, between East 56th &57th streets in New York).
All items on display will be part of the 28th annual Bonhams Dog Art Sale on Tuesday, February 16th
Rare works to be previewed include a 19th century leather and brass collar belonging to Charles Dickens’ dog, Gustav Muss-Anolte’s painting entitle On Point that depicts a Pointer and Setter on the hunt, and artwork from several well-known women artist such as an oil by Maud Earl, sketches by Lucy Dawson and a painting featuring two Bloodhounds by Margaret Collyer. Attendees will also have the distinct opportunity to meet the reigning National Champion; Sadie, the Scottish Terrier recently crowned “Best In Show” at this year’s AKC/Eukenuba National Championship.
All proceeds from Barkfest at Bonhams benefit The American Kennel Club Humane Fund Inc., a 501(c)(3) charity which promotes the joy and value of responsible pet ownership through education, outreach and grant making.
